Metaglip is mostly used for treatment of type 2 diabetes. This medicine is the combination of two medicines called Glipizide and Metformin. In type2 diabetes the body cells do not responds to insulin. Along with, these patients have high blood sugar content. Metaglip helps in formation of more insulin in pancreas. Use of Metaglip helps to keep the blood sugar under control. This drug also helps in decreasing the quantity of sugar produced by the liver. Studies have found that use of Metaglip reduces the quantity of sugar engrossed in to the body from meal. This drug may be prescribed with other diabetes medicines. When lifestyle changes (weight loss, diet, exercise) are not sufficient to control blood sugar then Metaglip is generally prescribed to the type 2 diabetics.
